Community Building Sessions

Community Building with Afghan refugee families

Our Afghan Refugees program focuses on providing community building sessions for Afghan refugees in the DMV area.

About The Project

The community building sessions are to provide and foster a safe space within agencies that are hosting families from Afghanistan. With the safe space, they are welcome to talk about their experience, build a network of support between the other families, and with established resettled individuals. The community-building sessions will be located on an online platform called Zoom. There will be four sessions for the adults and three sessions for the tweens and teens.

Project Goals

  • To build a community/support group for refugees to safely share experiences
  • To raise awareness and educate refugees on mental well-being

The start time of these sessions will be Wednesday, March 30th at 6:30 PM EST, and continue every other Wednesday at the same time until May 11th.
